2007 Year of the Pig Chinese New Year Celebration

The celebration of the Year of the Pig, Chinese New Year 2007, was full of events and activities that provided something for everyone. It began on Friday, February 16 with a Global Business and Cultural Conference, in partnership with Southern Oregon University in Ashland, OR. On Saturday, February 17, the celebration moved to Jacksonville, OR with a traditional parade featuring Lan Chi Lion Dancers and the SOCCA dragon dancers.

Other events included a performance by the N. Cal. Taiwanese Opera Co., book talks by Irene Kai and Sharon Heisel, dim sum cooking demonstrations, martial arts demonstrations by Del Saito Martial Arts and Superior Athletic Tai Chi, many children’s activities and historical presentations. It was full of fun and joy, and a celebration of cultural diversity.
